What You'll Do
As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will install, service, inspect, troubleshoot, and commission commercial fire alarm systems while ensuring all work complies with applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and local codes.
Responsibilities
- Program, test, commission, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems.
- Install and terminate low-voltage fire alarm devices and equipment.
- Perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, and system diagnostics.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, product manuals, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA, NEC, manufacturer specifications, and local AHJ requirements.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection documentation, and customer paperwork.
- Educate customers on system operation and maintenance.
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and customers to ensure successful project completion.
- Mentor and assist apprentices and helper technicians.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of commercial fire alarm experience.
- Experience servicing, troubleshooting, inspecting, and commissioning fire alarm systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification.
- FASA/BASA Certification.
- Experience with leading fire alarm manufacturers and control panels.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and local fire codes.

Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- 8-hour shifts
- Participation in an on-call rotation as needed
