We are hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team of talented medical professionals, to assist practitioners who conduct a one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams in Albuquerque, NM.

  • Employment Status: Full Time
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid by-weekly.$24.32/hr. + $5.36H/W
  • Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm With an hour lunch

This role supports patient care during sensitive procedures where patients may request a same-gender staff member. The facility seeks to ensure appropriate gender representation among staff to accommodate patient choice.


Primary Purpose Of Position:

The Optum Serve Medical Assistant for the Dedicated network provides clinically competent delivery of quality medical care services required during Optum Serve operations within their scope of practice. The MA working at any Optum Serve site is responsible for safe patient care and ensuring adherence to all Optum Serve Policies and Procedures. All Optum Serve on-site staff and contractors must be fully vaccinated per CDC guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in medical assisting and/or graduation from an accredited vocational Medical Assistant program, and/ or maintains unrestricted and in good standing certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • IF required by state of operation: Maintains unrestricted and in good standing certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Phlebotomy Certification from accrediting training courses, when required by state requirements.
  • Active/Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability/willingness to drive between work locations.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience (i.e., Primary Care, Family Care, Internal Medicine, Occupational Health, or Urgent Care).
  • Willingness to complete CAOCH and Drug Testing Collection Certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Veterans, Service Members and Federal Employees.
  • Previous experience performing EKG, PFTs, ABIs, venipuncture, lab processing, etc.
  • Current certification in Audio and Drug Testing Collection.

Role Responsibilities & Attributes:

  • Assists providers with patient preparation for examination, minor office procedures and with the examination and education of patients.
  • Performs selected patient and laboratory testing consistent with the scope of the practice, including but not limited to electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, and vision acuity testing (dependent upon provider and site requirements).
  • Under onsite provider supervision may perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture; pulmonary function test (PFT), ankle brachial index (ABI) and electrocardiograms (EKG), measurement, and documentation of vital signs.
  • Provides escorting/chaperoning for patients per policy.
  • Supports other members of the clinical care team, assuring optimal best practices.
  • Provides clerical support and serves as backup for the Administrative Assistant or other team members as needed.
