Job description

One to One Health is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our clinic team located at The ROW in Reno!

At One to One Health, we prioritize personalized, high-quality care that supports the well-being of the communities we serve. This role is integral to delivering efficient clinical operations and a positive patient experience, working alongside providers to ensure coordinated, compassionate care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to maintaining clinical excellence in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include:
โ€ข Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming the purpose of the visit.
โ€ข Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary
โ€ข Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
โ€ข Deliver overall support for providers and clinic operations.
โ€ข Instructs patients on the collection of any necessary samples and tests
โ€ข Give injections, and administer prescribed medications as directed by the provider and according to nursing standards.
โ€ข Observe patients, chart and report changes in patient's conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and take any necessary action
โ€ข Ensure that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely matter and forward charts as appropriate in the electronic medical record.
โ€ข Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
โ€ข Arrange referrals to a specialist and obtain pre-authorizations when directed by the provider.
โ€ข Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
โ€ข Assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
โ€ข Assist providers in preparing for minor procedures and physicals.
โ€ข Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, andย  ย  ย  ย fostering a sense of teamwork.
โ€ข Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
โ€ข Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; callingย  ย  ย for repairs, and reporting to the Practice Coordinator.
โ€ข Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies/procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
โ€ข Exhibits professionalism and teamwork
โ€ข Possess the ability to quickly adapt to different situations while being efficient and well organized.
โ€ข Demonstrate knowledge and ability to recognize emergent situations and act promptly and appropriately based on the patient's need and within the scope ofย  ย  ย  ย  practice under the direction of the charge nurse and/or provider.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to provide patients with timely responses, clear and professional communication, and a steadfast willingness to find solutions to all problems.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and empathy, to effectively address patient needs and concerns and coordinate care.
  • Proficient in basic technology (Microsoft products, etc).
  • Ability or willingness to learn patient engagement software / customer service systems that enable omnichannel (text, phone, video, email) communication with patients and teammates.
  • Ability or willingness to learn basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess a strong sense of professionalism
  • Must thrive in a team dynamic
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
