Ophthalmology Medical Director

Compensation: $350k-$450k per year

Job Type: Full-Time | Call Schedule of 1:4 (Minimal call burden)

We have partnered closely with an award-winning, independent community hospital in Vermont to find a dynamic and visionary Ophthalmology Medical Director. This is a premier leadership and clinical opportunity to step into a thriving, highly collaborative, hospitalโ€‘employed practice. You will lead an exceptional, highโ€‘volume team that includes an additional ophthalmologist, a skilled optometrist, and a dedicated, fully supportive staff of Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COAs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Medical Director for the Ophthalmology practice, guiding clinical protocols, driving quality initiatives, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Maximize efficiency within assigned, dedicated OR blocks in a stateโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘art procedure center explicitly equipped with updated, modern technology to seamlessly accommodate highโ€‘volume surgeries.
  • Manage a busy, established patient panel, delivering topโ€‘tier medical and surgical ophthalmic care to a dedicated community across central and southern Vermont.
  • Participate in an equitable 1:4 call rotation designed to maintain an excellent workโ€‘life balance with a historically minimal call burden.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Vermont (or immediate eligibility to obtain).
  • Proven clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and a desire to step into an impactful clinical leadership role.
