Job description

POSITION TITLE: Registered Medical Assistant
REPORTS TO: Director of Sites
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
CareSTL Health is seeking Registered Medical Assistants (RMA) to join our team! The Registered Medical Assistant supports the clinical treatment care of patients. Other functions include sustaining patient comfort, managing supplies, listening to patient’s needs and educating them on procedures, working efficiently to maintain doctor’s schedule, and adhering to all OSHA and safety policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Registered Medical Assistant may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.
  • Receive patients: update medical history and conduct patient intake and discharge according to policy and procedure to ensure the best health outcome for our patients and their families
  • Prepare patient for examination and assist provider with exam and procedure as needed
  • Make follow-up appointment along with giving patient co-pay information for next visit, collect all forms accompanying patient, and verify patient demographics
  • Prep chart accurately take age-appropriate vital signs; assist provider with charting as necessary and collect all forms accompanying patient and verify patient demographics
  • Conduct patient intake and discharge according to policy and procedure to ensure the best health outcome for our patients and their families
Additional job duties
  • Administers injections as ordered by the provide and obtain and process specimens for transport to the lab as well as conduct patient tracking, and recall regarding abnormal tests
  • Assist provider with complex dressing changes and perform simple wound care and dressing changes
  • Administer peak flow meter test for respiratory assessment, administer nebulizer treatments as ordered as well as clean and decontaminate all re-usable equipment for autoclave sterilization and set up the exam rooms
  • Assist with medical emergencies as instructed (e.g. CPR, First aid) § Performs all other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assistant
  • Valid registration as a Registered Medical Assistant in the State of Missouri § Current CPR Certification
Experience:
  • 1-2 yrs of experience working in a Community Health Center/or Physician’s Office setting

  • Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
