Job description

Summary:The Medical Assistant is a key member of the Physician Practice and assists Providers with delivery of care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for prepatory tasks to ensure the efficiency of the practice and customer service for the patient. Duties include exam prep, patient interviews, vitals, chart recording, chart pulling/filing, room turnover, ordering supplies and performing medical testing as instructed by provider. The Medical Assistant may float to other practices, as needed.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required completion of a Medical Assistant course required or equivalent work experience.
Licensure: Certification required or equivalent work experience with proven competency.
Experience: Two to four years of relevant work experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical/physician's office preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.
  • Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to organize and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Knowledge working with EMR/EHR, Meditech, and Athena preferred

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements:
Must be able to push, pull and lift at least 30 pounds. Must be able to bend, stretch and use stools and ladders. Must meet all safety requirements associated with a medical office setting.

Ability to work with general supervision. Ability to work with staff members at all levels of the organization in a cooperative, team-oriented manner. Contributes in the establishment of goals, priorities and procedures relative to the office. Ability to embrace and manage change.
