Reports to: Awareness Coordinator
Travel: 0%
Hours: 15 a week
Position Summary:
The Social Media Intern supports Fight Colorectal Cancer's online presence by developing and publishing content aligned with the organization's awareness campaigns and educational initiatives. This role assists the Awareness team in promoting events, fostering community engagement, and maintaining consistent brand messaging across social media platforms. This is a part-time internship running August through December 2026, with flexible scheduling; occasional weekend work (1-2 weekends) is required to support event coverage, including the Ambassador Retreat.
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and post monthly event promotion content, including webinars and Action Hour
  • Schedule and post Champion Story features on a set cadence, identifying opportunities for cross-platform co-posting
  • Coordinate with the Advocacy Coordinator to schedule monthly Advocate Highlight posts
  • Coordinate with the Community Engagement Manager to develop and schedule Ambassador Alumni highlights
  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages daily using CoSchedule's inbox function
  • Support the Awareness Coordinator with content calendar management, including adding tasks, marking holidays, adjusting content placement, and tracking deadlines
  • Assist with basic metrics tracking by updating an existing engagement tracker
  • Support content development for awareness campaigns (e.g., No Shave November and other initiatives as they arise), ensuring alignment with campaign messaging and platform-specific formatting
  • Research social media trends and best practices, sharing relevant insights with the Awareness Coordinator
  • Develop a reference chart of social media handles for U.S. congressional representatives
  • Collaborate with the Awareness Coordinator on a live social media content plan for Fight Colorectal Cancer's Annual Ambassador Retreat (September 24-27, 2026) in Springfield, MO, including on-site content capture

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a Marketing, Communications, or related program.
  • Strong writing skills with experience in social media content creation.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content trends.
