Nature & Purpose of Position
Provides design, development, testing, maintenance, and oversight of departmental websites/ intranet sites and other similar web-based media to ensure optimal performance and availability.
This is a part-time, hourly, temporary, non-benefits eligible position, working 19 hours or less per week, expected to end on or before 08/31/2026. Specific hours and workdays to be determined.
Primary Responsibilities
Works with staff to identify, deliver, develop, test, and maintain web pages and other media for the Institute for Homeland Security (IHS). Performs cross browser development and testing. Documents processes. Receives and responds to incoming communications regarding web and other media needs by IHS. Ensures Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compatibility for websites and related media. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Working technical knowledge of web design/development is necessary. Ability to learn new technology quickly from written, verbal, or visual instructional materials. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and procedural documentation. Effective interpersonal skills and strong written and oral communication skills and a strong customer-service orientation are required. This position involves the ability to set priorities and procedures for accomplishing work based on previous experience and knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Work is of moderate technical complexity and issues are resolved based on knowledge from experience and/or college level courses. Policy interpretation is limited to situations which have been previously defined and where parameters have been established. Special procedures sometimes require extended hours. Some travel is required.
