Job description

MEDIA PRODUCTION SPECIALIST

The Louisiana Conference of The United Methodist Church is pleased to announce a search for a Media Production Specialist. This role leads the day-to-day production of video, photography, podcast, and studio media for the Louisiana Conference, ensuring high-quality content is efficiently produced, edited, organized, and delivered for Conference communications and ministry initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, technically skilled, adaptable, and collaborative, with strong creative and production skills and a passion for using media to communicate clearly and tell the stories of ministry across Louisiana.

Essential Functions:

  • Produce, record, and edit video for Conference communications, ministries, events, podcasts, and digital platforms, including short form content for timely deployment.
  • Operate professional cameras, lighting, microphones, audio equipment, and other production technology; edit content using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, or comparable software.
  • Create basic graphics and visual assets using Canva or similar tools and prepare media for websites, email, social media, YouTube, and other digital platforms in coordination with the Communications Operations role.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Conference video and podcast studio, including recording sessions, equipment readiness, technical support, and maintaining a clean, professional production environment.
  • Serve as a primary photographer for Conference events, ministries, communications, and other Conference needs; select, edit, organize, and promptly deliver photographs.
  • Maintain organized and searchable media libraries, consistent file naming and storage practices, and reliable backup and archival systems for photography, video, audio, and other production assets.
  • Maintain and manage Conference production equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, microphones, cables, and related technology, ensuring equipment is properly stored, maintained, and ready for use.
  • Lead media production for the Louisiana Annual Conference and other major Conference events, coordinating equipment, assignments, production workflows, and contracted photographers, videographers, or other production personnel as needed.
  • Coordinate media projects and production schedules from planning through recording, editing, and delivery, prioritizing competing needs and ensuring media assets are available for timely communications.
  • Provide on-location production support for Conference communications, ministries, and events, including occasional travel within Louisiana; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or a minimum of two years of relevant work experience required.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in video production, photography, digital media, or a related field.
  • Strong video editing skills using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, or comparable professional software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with professional DSLR or mirrorless camera systems, lighting, audio recording, and video production techniques.
  • Experience creating and preparing content for websites, social media, YouTube, email, and other digital platforms, with working knowledge of Canva or similar design tools.
  • Experience organizing and managing digital media files, archives, backups, and searchable media libraries, as well as maintaining professional photography, video, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Strong organizational, technical, communication, problem solving, and attention to detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, anticipate production needs, learn new technologies quickly, and move efficiently between project coordination, production, photography, and editing.
  • Ability to work effectively with Conference staff, clergy, churches, contractors, ministry leaders, and guests within the rhythms and culture of church and ministry life.

Work Environment & Requirements

  • In office work required at the Baton Rouge Conference Office.
  • Occasional travel within Louisiana is required for photography, video production, Annual Conference, and other Conference events.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for major Conference events, recordings, and ministry activities.
