Job description

UNIT IS LOOKING FOR 26-WEEK CONTRACTS!!! May be open to 48hr/week guarantee as well - please confirm with CRT (Avina and Callie)

●      About Facility:

▪       247 Licensed Beds

▪       Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center

▪       Teaching Hospital

▪       Chest Pain Center

▪       Certified Stroke Center

●      Unit Information:

o   Beds: 24; 21-23 patient census on average

o   Required Experience: 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experiencemust be comfortable in a high acuity, fast paced environment

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

●      Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o   Respiratory, Trauma (which includes penetrating and non-accidental trauma, NAT), DKA, Seizures, Neurosurgical, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Orthopedic, Surgical, Transplants (Kidney and whole/partial Liver), complex Medical, Blood Disorders

●      Patient Ratios:

o   RN: Varies on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2

●      Required Licensure & Certifications:

o   RN: BLS, PALS

●      Skills required:

o   EPIC experience, experience with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring device), Belmont Rapid Infuser, management of  critical care vasoactive drip titration, management of invasive lines – ART lines/CVP, aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, HOFV management, oral/nasal suctioning, g-tube/j-tube management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation and analgesic drip management, Foley insertion and management, Alaris & Medfusion pump management, bedside procedures with providers, discharge skills, CRRT experience 

o   Ability/Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU – discussed during interview

●      Support within the Department:

o   CNA - 1 Health Care tech per day to support unit secretary duties and nursing support needs throughout the shift (runners, bathing, etc.)

o   Unit Secretary every shift

o   Charge nurse, 24/7

o   Phlebotomy, 24/7

o   IV/VAT Team, 24/7

o   Resource Nurse

o   RT, 24/7

o   Intensivist, 24/7

o   Residents, in house

o   APP, in house

o   Telemetry monitoring Tech? No

▪       Centralized and bedside monitoring

●      Technology/Equipment:

o   EMR: EPIC

o   IV Pump: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps

o   Med dispensing: Omnicell

o   Monitors: Phillips

o   Equipment: Belmont Rapid Infuser, Accuvein, PIV Ultrasound, Artic Sun, Camino, EV-1000 Vigileo, I-stat and Accuryn

●      Floating: If yes, where?

o   Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, Gen Peds – will float as needed

●      Orientation (facility and unit):

o   NEO

o   2 days departmental 

●      Scheduling:

o   No call for travelers, if the PICU cannot utilize them, they may be floated to PCVICU, Peds Progressive, NICU or general Peds units within LCH

o   RTO: Manager approval

o   Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks

●      Other notes:

o   Scrub Color: Navy
