The Mechanical Engineer Consultant for the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers an exciting chance to lead complex engineering work that truly matters.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role supports mechanical engineering functions for correctional institutions across Pennsylvania by guiding design, inspections, and project review. You will work with a wide range of professionals to ensure sound engineering practices that support efficient and reliable operation. As a Mechanical Engineer Consultant, you will perform the following duties: Design Preparation: Complete design data, specifications, and computer aided drafting (CAD) drawings for construction projects in line with codes and engineering standards Site Evaluation: Conduct site surveys, gather data, and prepare reports with observations, recommendations, and cost estimates Project Coordination: Coordinate design efforts with staff, professionals, and code officials to ensure strong communication and compliance Document Review: Review and approve mechanical drawings, calculations, estimates, and contractor submissions Technical Guidance: Provide engineering advice, solve complex mechanical issues, and support maintenance teams with mechanical training Field Inspection: Perform site inspections to evaluate construction progress, adherence to design, and overall acceptability of project work Interested in learning more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week after the initial 6-month training period

During the training period, you must report in-office to 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg.

The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Employees with the required certification or license may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment at the time of hire and each time the certification or license is renewed. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system. Special Requirements: You must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. You must be in possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
