JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TEST ENGINEER
JOB LOCATION: MIDDLETOWN, RI
WAGE RANGE*: 65.00-68.00 PER HOUR
JOB NUMBER: 15039761
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a lab environment

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Perform instrumentation planning and test conduct of all Hardware Tests including vibration, mechanical shock, temperature, altitude, humidity, and structural testing
  • Dynamic and thermal data acquisition and analysis
  • Provide test fixture design coordination
  • Work independently and take ownership of program/project to achieve schedule, financial, and technical goals
  • Prepare test plans, schedules, test reports, and technical documentation of project work assigned
  • Work directly with design engineering, structural analysis personnel, manufacturing engineering, and commercial customers
  • Provide technical expertise to programs as needed
  • Factory and supplier testing support domestically and internationally
  • Generate detailed, archival technical reports
  • Travel to test sites to support test or design discussion (depending on work assignment)
  • Willingness to travel to domestic Raytheon sites, suppliers, and government facilities

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Experience in Hardware and Environmental Testing (i.e. Dynamic Shock/Vibration, Climatic, Structural)
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Signal processing, data acquisition, field test instrumentation, or structural testing
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and independently
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalent
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience presenting to external customers
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
