A regionally recognized mechanical construction and facilities services firm is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead large-scale commercial and industrial projects while serving as a key contributor to the organization's long-term growth and operational success.

This organization provides full lifecycle mechanical solutions including HVAC, plumbing, piping, controls/building automation, engineering services, and prefabrication support. Projects include healthcare, higher education, mission-critical facilities, manufacturing, commercial high-rise, and industrial installations.

Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for leading complex mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role requires exceptional leadership, financial management, client relationship development, and strategic project execution skills. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, estimating, field leadership, and executive management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This position offers significant leadership visibility and long-term advancement potential as the company continues to grow and develop future operational leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost control, profitability, and financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and resource plans
  • Oversee subcontractor, vendor, and procurement activities
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, contract administration, and pay applications
  • Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities
  • Collaborate with estimating, engineering, VDC/BIM, fabrication, and field operations teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field personnel
  • Support business development efforts, project pursuits, and client relationship management
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and contractual requirements
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of commercial or industrial mechanical construction project management experience
  • Proven success managing large, complex HVAC, plumbing, piping, or process mechanical projects
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling, financial management, forecasting, and cost control
  • Experience with preconstruction activities, project planning, and estimating reviews
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and lead multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction means, methods, and project execution strategies
  • Proficiency with project management and construction software platforms
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Design-Build, Design-Assist, GMP, and negotiated projects
  • Experience within healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, institutional, or large commercial construction environments
  • Leadership experience mentoring teams and developing future project leaders
