Job description

Job Title: Associate, Mechanical Engineering

Job Code: 39073

Job Location: Northampton, MA

Job Description:

Support design effort by performing mechanical engineering design, drawing and moderate analysis tasks.ย  Participate in design reviews and provide support to design leads and project engineers.ย  Provide Mechanical Engineering support to production floor as required.

Essential Functions:ย 

  • Develop working designs, computer solid models and design layouts of parts, mechanisms, and optical mounting using MCAD/MCAE tools.
  • Create detail and assembly drawings to ASME Y14.100 and internal standards.
  • Work with other engineers to optimize designs for structural and thermal performance.
  • Prepare design documentation in accordance with contract requirements and/or internal standards.
  • Perform estimates for remaining work on assigned tasks.
  • Prepare and present internal design reviews, aid in the preparation of Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review activities to demonstrate the design meets all specifications and customer requirements.
  • Support the assembly and integration of products/systems. Support mechanical system and component alignment, testing, troubleshooting and evaluation.
  • Ensure quality through adherence to the Quality Systems Manual, applicable Standard Work Instructions and other standards invoked internally or contractually.
  • Work independently with guidance/inputs from internal processes, specifications, manager, design leads and project engineers

Qualifications:

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or have completed their Bachelor's degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.ย  ย  ย 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas isย $68,000.00 - $126,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.ย
