Job description

Bonnell Aluminum is looking for a professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering and manufacturing. The ideal candidate should be capable of managing projects and process improvements with minimal oversight. Effective communication skills are crucial for organizing resources, efforts, and results within the organization. This individual will be responsible for making valuable improvements to designs and processes and should also mentor others to enhance the overall capability of the team. Understanding the end goal of increasing the company's bottom line is essential.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Develop manufacturing cost estimates for fabricated aluminum extrusions through manual and automated manufacturing cells.ย Providing quotes and feedback to sales and customers.

  • Design, quote, and implement manufacturing processes using applied technical skills & sound judgement.

  • Develop automated equipment, tooling costs, and lead times.

  • Analyze quality defects and ensure that fabricated aluminum extrusions meet customer standards.

  • Review & Interpret Manufacturing drawings to evaluate existing process capabilities & constraints.

  • Apply an understanding of process and equipment failure modes to create reliable systems and processes.

  • Design electro-mechanical systems for automated equipment using engineering principles and mechanical & electrical know-how.

  • Specify materials, components, and equipment for manufacturing.

  • Assemble, program, and support manufacturing systems, such as CNC Machining, Punching, and Bending equipment.

  • Maintenance knowledge and root cause analysis, use of hand tools, welding, power tools, etc.ย 

  • Manage project schedules and budgets within pre-determined limits.

  • Create processes, procedures, and standardized work to ensure effective startup and ongoing fabrication of aluminum extrusions.

  • Prepare engineering reports and requests for capital with justification of ROI.ย 

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering and a minimum of three years of prior relevant experience.

  • Minimum two years' Experience in Autodesk Inventor.

  • Moderate to Advanced Understanding of Mechanical Design, Fits, Weldments, and Assemblies.ย 

  • Moderate Understanding of Drafting Manufacturing Prints with Tolerances.

  • Working knowledge and Interpretation of GD&T.

  • Moderate understanding of machining and fabrication methods and principles.

It Would Be Great If You Have:ย ย ย ย 

  • Certified Fanuc Robot Programming Experience.

  • Allen Bradley PLC and HMI Programming Experience.

  • General Industrial Controls Experience. (Servos, VFD's, Analog/Digital I/O, etc...)

  • CNC CAM Experience.

  • Hydraulic Tooling Design (For CNC Fixtures & Punch Applications)
