The Opportunity

In the role of Engineering Lab Service Technician, you will provide critical technical support to our core engineering efforts. This position is vital for ensuring the sustained health, performance, and ongoing advancement of the entire Flock product suite. You will engage deeply with early-stage electrical design, the construction of mechanical prototypes, initial software implementation, and the gathering of essential testing data

In this position you will:

  • Execute the assembly and fabrication of sophisticated hardware prototypes at the PCB level.

  • Troubleshoot and remediate complex technical malfunctions within various hardware prototype iterations.

  • Iterate on and refine pre-production units to optimize overall system performance.

  • Utilize additive manufacturing technologies to realize mechanical concepts while driving engineering improvements and managing technical escalations.

  • Manage the deployment of firmware updates and software release cycles across operational systems within the Flock ecosystem..

  • Serve as the vital conduit for communication back to our internal R&D departments, pinpointing tangible enhancements for mechanical, hardware and software systems..

  • Develop and curate comprehensive technical SOPs and diagnostic documentation to fortify and expand our operational support infrastructure during rapid organizational scaling.

  • Engage in the direct "bring-up" and rigorous QA assessment of novel engineering systems to ensure long-term reliability.

The Skillset
  • A minimum of 3 years providing technical engineering assistance, with direct exposure to hardware development at the prototyping stage.

  • A minimum of 3 years providing technical manufacturing support, with deep exposure to assembly methodologies and production systems.

  • Proven capability to oversee multifaceted operational workflows, expertly navigating the intersection of technical innovation, system stability, and continuous lifecycle support.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in overseeing methodical system evaluation cycles, encompassing rigorous data acquisition and consistent feedback integration,

  • Proven proficiency of fabrication, encompassing advanced soldering and wire termination techniques alongside the adept utilization of laboratory instrumentation—including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters—for sophisticated power profiling and comprehensive system tuning.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting complex electrical schematics and comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Demonstrated competency in Linux & Python for driving complex technical automation and data analysis.

  • Directly oversee the optimization of educational frameworks to facilitate the expansive growth of sophisticated, multi-modal systems.

  • Proven background in expanding organizational capacity during phases of accelerated technological evolution.

The First 60 Days

  • Commence the efficient completion and distribution of assigned tasks to relevant stakeholders.

  • Exhibit competent risk management and problem-solving capabilities.

90 Days & Beyond

  • Increase participation in the Engineering culture and build strong professional connections to promote a positive and vibrant workplace.

  • Consistently aid in assessing and testing upcoming Flock products in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Fulfill ELS requests, share insights from your first 90 days with the team, and offer constructive feedback on challenges alongside proposed fixes.

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $60,000 and $80,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.

Location

This role is based in Atlanta, GA, where you’ll join our dynamic team to collaborate in person and drive innovation. Candidates must reside in or relocate to Atlanta, GA for this position.
