Job Description

Under the direction of Engineering Management, develop and analyze new or existing designs to meet product specifications while considering feasibility of operation, manufacturing and application.  Ensure products continually meet or exceed customer & market needs, agency & compliance requirements, manufacturing continuous improvement, and cost savings initiatives. 

The ideal candidate for a Mechanical Engineer II would be able to do the following:

  1. Under minimal supervision, plan, conceptualize, and createinnovativedesigns for new productsor updates to existing products with a focus on quality, cost, manufacturability, productperformanceand agency compliance. 

  2. Perform testing and validation ofnew designsor updates to existing products.Clearly document results and recommendationsfor product & process improvement. 

  3. Coordinatepilotbuildsfor testing and customerfield trials throughout the validation process. 

  4. Perform engineering calculations to support design work. 

  5. Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications. 

  6. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineeringand cross functionalteamstoexecuteprojectdeliverables,andwork withsuppliersand contractors. 

  7. Perform detailed documentation to track project development and designprocess. 

  8. Under minimal supervision, ensureadherence to the New Product Development process,project timelinesaremet,projectsstay within budgetand on target for product performanceand cost. 

Qualifications

For a candidate to be successful as a Mechanical Engineer II they must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field 

  • 2years of experience working in engineering 

  • Understandingof engineering concepts,and experience designing mechanical systems and products 

  • Ability to applybasicengineeringprinciples andstatisticsto solve problems. 

  • Experience usingCAD software such as SolidWorksandAutoCAD. 

  • UnderstandingofAgency and Certification Standards, such as UL, Energy Star, ASTM, etc. 

  • Understandingofmanufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and injection molding. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearlyin both verbal and written formats. 

  • Must be self-motivated anda great teamworker. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (word, excel, access, outlook)
