Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Provide mechanical engineering design and development of innovative products from concept through production
  • Design, build, and test proof-of-concept models, breadboards, prototypes, and production-ready designs
  • Apply expertise in motion systems, motion controls, robotics, and precision electromechanical design
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineers
  • Utilize Creo and/or SolidWorks to develop detailed mechanical designs and documentation
  • Perform engineering analyses, develop product specifications, and create design documentation
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and design for cost and reliability principles
  • Support proposal development, technical estimates, and customer engagements
  • Contribute to rapid prototyping and iterative product development efforts
  • Ensure compliance with Boston Engineering's Quality Management System and engineering best practices
Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience focused on new product development
  • Demonstrated success bringing complex products from concept through manufacturing
  • Experience designing high-precision electromechanical systems
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and prototype development
  • Experience designing products for underwater or marine environments
  • Proficiency with Creo and/or SolidWorks
  • Experience developing products that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Strong understanding of DFM, DFA, design for cost, and reliability engineering
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous experience working within an engineering services or product development consulting environment
  • Familiarity with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

Additional Information

Employment Type: Full-time Role

Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Department Manager

Location: Office-based in Waltham, MA

Relocation: Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

Salary Range:  The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $116,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.  The final offer amount will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s education, experience, and skills. A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k) match, and paid time off, is also provided.
