The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. Our talented staff of more than 650+ professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 1-3 years of experience to support the facility mechanical system design within our MEP team. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers, architects, and designers to develop HVAC, plumbing, and other building mechanical systems from concept through construction. Proficiency within REVIT. Technical Skill and Creative Spirit is our mantra. The right candidate shall be able to think beyond typical solutions and apply innovative ideas to produce efficient and thoughtful projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, layout, and modeling of mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronic systems, natural gas distribution and domestic plumbing.
  • Develop construction drawings, specifications, sequence of operations and technical documentation using REVIT and/or Auto CADD and other industry tools.
  • Familiarity with using Navisworks and/or Point Cloud scans.
  • Perform engineering calculations, load calculations, and system sizing under supervision of senior staff.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, clients).
  • Conduct site visits, field verification, and assist with project assessments when needed.
  • Support the preparation of cost estimates, reports, and project deliverables.
  • Basic experience researching and applying relevant building codes, standards, and best practices (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, State codes, etc.).
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and contribute to design discussions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the AEC or MEP consulting industry.
  • Proficiency in REVIT
  • Familiarity with HVAC fundamentals, thermal loads, and building mechanical systems.
  • Basic understanding of building codes and industry standards.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problemโ€‘solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fastโ€‘paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to sustainable design principles, LEED guidelines, or energy modeling.
  • Experience working on commercial, educational, industrial, or municipal building projects.
