Position Summary:
The primary responsibility for a mechanical engineer is design/drafting (using CAD software) of mechanical machinery for automation systems.

Reports To:
Engineering Manager
Essential Duties (not limited to:
  • Read, interpret and generate manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Adhere to engineer/production schedule to maintain on-time deliveries to customers.
  • Coordinate with fabrication shop foreman and fabricators throughout the production process.
  • Confer with engineering team and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve malfunctions and provide technical information.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team on a variety of engineering/manufacturing tasks.
  • Complete assigned tasks with quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Consistently follow supervisor directives in all regular duties and other assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to all company policy and procedures, including safety protocol.
  • Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • International and domestic travel may be required occasionally.
  • Other duties as determined from time to time.
Required Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
  • High mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of structural steel construction and mechanical parts.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Design software is a must. Experience in 3D solid modeling is a plus.
  • Solid Works and/or Inventor software experience is a plus.
  • Background with automation system/material handling is a plus.
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or related field a plus.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a mechanical engineer/designer or related field a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • The ideal job candidate must be available to perform job duties as required during normal business hours with occasional overtime.
  • The candidate must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment as necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazard or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated.
  • This job includes tasks that require sitting, walking, standing, bending, twisting, gripping, stair/ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, and occasionally lifting.
  • Periodic travel (domestic and international) for customer site visits, trade show events, and/or intra-company site visits is required.
