JOB SUMMARY
The Hand Bindery Helper or Boxtender will assist various Machine Operators in the routine aspects of packaging finished print material and direct mail. Operate paper bail scrap system, empty paper waste bins and move bails.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Will learn to assist in the operation of various printing production machines to complete assigned duties such as shrink wrap or punch press.
  • Visual inspection, packaging, and palletization of finished material in production coming of various types of machinery. Makes cartons, labels, and shipping tags for finished product.
  • Must be able to keep accurate production and daily activity reports.
  • Maintain level of housekeeping that complies with company standards.
  • Will learn to operate a fork truck for scrap system.
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required is High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior bindery experience preferred, but not required
  • Color vision required.
  • This position requires an ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Maintain level of housekeeping that complies with company standards.
  • Must be team oriented - a team player, willing to work for the good of the total team.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to work days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays and willing to work overtime when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions. Warehouse and plant with exposure to dust, noise and fumes. Walking and standing 100% on concrete flooring.
  • The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals and heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects
  • Ability to use computer and calculator.
