Job description

Amentum is seeking a AC Mechanic Helper for a position on Kauai, HI. Under the general direction of a Supervisor or Lead-person, The Mechanic performs a variety of sub-professional duties and work related to the operation, maintenance, fabrication and alteration of facilities and equipment in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade field at a semi-skilled level.

Responsibilities

  • Required to work alone or as a team and be able to complete work assignments from verbal instructions, written work orders, drawings, schematics, sketches and blue prints while complying with federal, state and local codes and PMRF/Manu Kai procedures and safety, fire and health requirements.

  • Must be capable to acquire the skill to troubleshoot and repair various types of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

  • Must be capable of acquiring the skill to solder, braze, use recovery and recycling equipment, multi-meters and adjust mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls.

  • Must be capable to acquire the skill to repair, modify and install air supply and return ducting.

  • Must be capable of acquiring the skill to recover and recycle refrigerant in accordance with federal regulations.

  • Repair, modify and install air ducts.

  • Responsible for completing timecard, submitting completed work order documents with comments for any follow up work when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • A minimum of two years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience may be substituted for formal schooling.

  • Must be able to obtain an EPA Universal Certification.

  • Possess a Hawaii State Driver's License.

  • Must have ability to obtain appropriate State and Government licenses to operate stake trucks and forklifts.

  • Must be capable for performing these functions in accordance with federal regulation section 608 of the Clean Air Act.

  • Must be capable of acquiring the skill and knowledge of proper and safe use of tools and equipment associated with the trade.

  • Must demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow instructions at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.

Education

  • High School or equivalent

  • 2 Year Technical School or equivalent training such as Navy "A" school or recognized correspondence is required.

Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
