Job description

This position is for someone looking to work in the local food chain as part of a meat production team while enjoying stable hours in a family-friendly workplace. In this role, you will primarily work a consistent 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM basic schedule focused on wrapping, labeling, and packaging meat that our butchers have cut from animals local farmers have brought to LGCM for processing.
This is a hands-on role that plays a critical part in ensuring customers receive properly packaged, clearly labeled, freezer-ready meat they can trust.

Job summary
Meat wrappers are responsible for accurately packaging and labeling meat products for safe storage and customer use. This is an entry-level role with no prior experience needed; we provide on-the-job training. Attention to detail, organization, and pride in quality are key to success in this position.
Essential functions
  • Use freezer paper to securely wrap cuts of meat for safe freezer storage.
  • Properly identify and label products using a computer-controlled industrial label printer.
  • Assist with light meat production tasks, such as making burger patties, as necessary.
  • Assist in receiving and stocking supplies.
  • Follow USDA food safety guidelines.
  • Complete end-of-day sanitation tasks.

  • A team-oriented work ethic and flexibility to accomplish what is scheduled for each day.

Work environment
This position works on our processing floor. This room is kept at cool temperatures. Trips in an out of freezers and coolers are necessary.
Physical requirements
This position must be able to:
  • Fluently communicate verbally and in writing in the English language.
  • Safely work with sharp objects such as knives and scissors.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Stand for an 8 hour shift: 2 - fifteen minute rest breaks and 1 - thirty minute meal break are provided during a shift.
  • Operate in a cool packaging environment, as well as operate in coolers kept in the 40ยบ range, to freezers that are kept in the 0ยบ range.

Education and experience
  • This is an entry-level position with no experience required.
