COMPENSATION:

Hourly Pay Range: $17.10 - $22.85

(this pay range represents the rates of pay for step 1 to the maximum step for this position in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The starting pay for the successful candidate will start at step 1)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Meat Clerk is accountable for delivering G.O.A.T. (Greet, Observe, Assist, Thank) service to our customers. 

The Meat Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with meat selections, answering questions, and ensuring products are fresh, well-stocked, and properly displayed. This role supports daily department operations, including cutting, trimming, packaging, and labeling meat products while following food safety and sanitation standards. The Meat Clerk also assists with inventory management, maintains a clean and organized work area, and contributes to a positive shopping experience through friendly and efficient service.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide friendly, helpful service while maintaining a professional demeanor and enhancing the customer’s shopping experience (G.O.A.T)
  • Assist the customer with purchases of products and other services such as slicing, grinding, repackaging, serving suggestions, etc.
  • Wrap, weigh, trim, price, and adjust pricing for all meat department products in compliance with company policies, food safety standards, customer protection laws, and weights and measures regulations.
  • Maintains the proper supply of products in the cases and packaged deli through proper rotation and display of product per company standards and schematics
  • Responsible for cleaning up of wrapping, scaling, and production equipment according to proper cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • Adhere to all safety, health, weights and measures regulations, and company recipes
  • Grind meat and prepare specialty items such as kabobs, marinated cuts, and custom orders
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of meat products
  • Handle knives, saws, grinders, and other meat-cutting equipment safely and responsibly
  • Orders products and supplies, inventories products and supplies as assigned
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth department operations and excellent customer experience
  • All other related duties as required and assigned 
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma is preferred but not required
  • A valid Food Handler / Health Card 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Friendly, helpful attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction and service at all time
  • Ability to work well within the team and follow direction with a good attitude
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with customers and other teammates
  • Basic math and reading skills for handling pricing, labels, equipment, and inventory
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
  • Ability to operate meat processing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must maintain a sense of integrity and adhere to all store policies and procedures, including safety standards and the collective bargaining agreement
