Walt Churchill’s Market is looking for a Full-time Meat Department Manager at our Maumee, OH location.


Job Summary:


The Meat Manager reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for the overall success of the Meat Department. The Meat Manager will motivate and manage Meat Department staff, hold daily huddles with staff, clearly communicate objectives to ensure quality products are being produced, uphold health and safety standards, ensure that all customers have a great experience, and manage product shelf life in order to generate sales. The Meat Manager directly supervises all Meat employees. The Meat Manager is expected to work 5 days per week for a total of 45 hours, including one weekend day.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


• Provide exceptional customer service in all areas and uphold the same standards for all Meat Department staff

• Work with the Assistant Meat Manager in effectively training and educating new Meat employees to ensure new hires are successful and safe in their position and as a team member

• Monitor Meat staff progress by providing regular feedback regarding performance and areas of improvement and conducting annual performance evaluations

• Address customer issues and use problem-solving skills to guarantee all customers have an excellent experience

• Ensure department is well-stocked, properly rotated, fronted and fresh at all times; pay close attention to pull damaged, spoiled, or expired product

• Work with the Assistant Meat Manager in controlling production numbers and costs, including ordering product, tracking shrink, managing inventory, and optimizing products

• Conduct quarterly inventory for the Meat Department

• Carefully audit department for missing price tags and signage, and replace or correct promptly; be sure to relabel in-house packaged product as prices change

• Strategically merchandise and track sales to meet customer demand and increase profits

• Maintain and clean all Meat Department equipment, following SSOP; contact service

contractors as needed

• Work with Store Manager to solve department issues and improve procedures

• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by government

regulations

• Ensure compliance with state, local and government weight, measures, and labeling

• Delegate work for maximum productivity

• Review weekly invoices and create schedules for Meat Department employees

• Build strong vendor relationships; participate in meetings with vendors and other WCM

management staff

• Decide and plan weekly Meat Department promotions with Meat Director

• Maintain timely email, phone, and in-person communication with vendors, customers, and

co-workers

• Attend food shows as directed by upper management

Physical Requirements:


• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and

reaching

• Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 95 pounds


Pay:

Starting pay will be based on industry experience, internal equity, and scope of responsibility.
