Job description

Low Voltage Traveling Project Manager – Div 27/28 (NOVA)

Company Description

Coranet Corp is a leading national provider of low-voltage solutions, including structured cabling infrastructure, wireless, audio-visual, and physical security (access control and video surveillance). We partner with leading technology brands to design, install, and maintain comprehensive low-voltage systems for our clients' real estate assets. Coranet has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing private businesses on the Inc. 5000 list for four consecutive years. As a certified Women-Owned Small Business, we help organizations modernize their operations and make assets smart, secure, and connected.

Role Description

Coranet is seeking a Low Voltage Traveling Project Manager – Div 27/28. Reporting to Coranet's Director of Strategic Accounts, this role is responsible for the execution and operational performance of Coranet's projects across the region and crucial territories, with a strong emphasis on ground-up new construction and major renovations in multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, retail, and office environments.

This position is responsible for end-to-end delivery of low-voltage scope, including structured cabling (copper/fiber), pathways and spaces (IDF/MDF), wireless infrastructure, audio-visual systems, access control, video surveillance, and related integrations, while managing internal field teams, subcontractors, schedules, customer satisfaction, and job profitability. The traveling Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for GCs, owners/clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders once a project begins, ensuring smooth coordination from kickoff through closeout and turnover.

This is a fast-paced, high-ownership role requiring strong construction leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate quickly and effectively via email, text, phone, and in person. The ideal candidate is comfortable with budgeting, forecasting, and margin management and thrives in a growth-oriented environment with autonomy and accountability. The ideal candidate is also comfortable traveling 30-50% of the time to client sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Project & Operations Leadership

  • Lead and execute Div 27/28 low-voltage projects across the region, including ground-up new construction, large-scale renovations, and tenant improvements (moves/adds/changes/repairs).
  • Oversee project planning, schedule management, staffing, and execution to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Serve as Coranet's primary field-facing leader - driving operational consistency, quality, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, GCs, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors; ensure a high level of responsiveness and professionalism.

Construction Management (New Development / Builds)

  • Participate in internal kickoff meetings with Sales, Design, and Engineering to confirm scope, assumptions, milestones, procurement plan, and delivery strategy.
  • Review drawings, Division 27/28 specifications, and site conditions; identify scope gaps and risks early and coordinate RFIs and clarifications as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct jobsite walkthroughs with internal teams, subcontractors, GCs, and clients; align installation approach to design intent and construction sequencing.
  • Coordinate multi-trade interfaces (e.g., electrical power/grounding, pathways, sleeves and firestopping, telecom rooms, door hardware coordination) to support clean installations.

Submittals, Permitting, and Compliance

  • Manage shop drawings and submittals (including submittal registers when required); coordinate approvals and releases in alignment with project schedule.
  • Coordinate permit and inspection requirements with AHJs, GCs, and licensed partners as needed; ensure documentation is complete and submitted on time.
  • Ensure installation meets applicable codes, standards, and project requirements; support inspections and site readiness.

Procurement, Logistics & Material Controls

  • Review BlueBeam takeoffs and bill of materials for accuracy prior to ordering; plan for long-lead items and align procurement to schedule milestones.
  • Coordinate ordering and deliveries with internal teams and clients as required; ensure materials are received, logged, staged, and ready prior to install.
  • Monitor material usage and manage excess/defective material returns and replacements.

Field Team & Subcontractor Management

  • Lead and support foremen, technicians, and subcontractors; provide direction on priorities, sequencing, quality expectations, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor field utilization and capacity; develop manpower plans and support hiring/crew scaling across regions and states.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, including selection, negotiation, onboarding, and performance evaluation.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own job profitability: track labor hours vs. budget, material costs, equipment costs, and margin performance; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage change order process: scope documentation, pricing coordination with Sales/Engineering, client review/approval, and internal execution.
  • Provide clear reporting on milestones, schedule, risks, staffing needs, and financial performance to leadership.

Client Communication & Closeout

  • Provide daily/weekly status updates to clients/GCs as required by project size and complexity; proactively communicate issues and solutions.
  • Manage punch lists and closeout activities through final acceptance.
  • Deliver required turnover documentation, which may include as-builts, labeling/admin, copper/fiber test results, warranties, and O&M materials as required by contract.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent relevant field experience).

  • 6+ years (or 4+ years with strong new construction leadership) in low-voltage construction operations and/or project management with hands-on experience delivering Div 27/28 scope.

  • Proven track record managing multiple projects simultaneously, including large-scale ground-up builds and major renovations.

  • Strong technical understanding of:

    • Structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optics), pathways, risers, IDF/MDF buildouts, and telecom rooms

    • Wireless infrastructure (WAP layouts/rough-in support), AV infrastructure, access control, and video surveillance systems

  • Ability to interpret construction documents, blueprints, and technical drawings; electrical background is a plus.

  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills; able to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Strong budgeting and analytical skills; comfortable working in Excel and with financial/job cost metrics.

  • Experience with common construction/project tools (e.g., Procore or similar platforms, Bluebeam) preferred.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites across US states as needed (30-50% travel)

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
