Position Description


Metro Consulting Associates, LLC., (“MCA”) is looking for a Project Manager to join our team! MCA is a multifaceted energy, land, and community development engineering and surveying firm serving public and private sector clients throughout the Midwest. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the technical and financial aspects of the project. The Project Manager will work with the management group, assemble (recruiting and onboarding) and manage (training and development) a project team, monitor project progress, and represent the firm with clients.


Client Management and Marketing

  • Develop project proposals and estimates.
  • Work with MCA Business Development staff and meet with current and potential clients.
  • Assist Business Development and Marketing teams with creating technical content.
  • Maintain exceptional intercompany and client relationships.
  • Implement and update market sector business plan.

Project Management

  • Establish project objectives by reviewing client documents and collaborating with clients and management.
  • Establish a project plan, schedule, budget, and labor plan.
  • Assemble, organize, and direct project team members.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with owners, clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Approve work product by analyzing design, client requirements and performance standards.
  • Maintain project budget and schedule by reviewing and approving costs, invoicing and collections, analyzing variances, initiating corrective action or change orders as necessary, and reporting results to management.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize information to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
  • Collect and organize project materials and maintain project file.
  • Ensure product quality and company reputation.
  • Understand technical components of project and able to perform technical duties of team members as necessary.

Employee Management

  • Provide leadership and direction to project team.
  • Grow organization by actively participating in recruiting and onboarding processes.
  • Promote open internal communication and information sharing across the organization.
  • Allocate workload fairly and efficiently within project team.
  • Proactively address performance issues, including development of improvement plans with HR.
  • Provide mentorship and meet with team members semi-annually to review performance and foster career development.
  • Collaborate and establish short- and long-term goals, strategies, plans, and policies for team members & department.
  • Work with other Project Managers and share resources as necessary.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, understand, and follow performance objectives and financial metrics.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through professional development and networking.
  • All other duties as assigned by senior management.

  • Compensation range depends on experience.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree Civil Engineering, Environmental, Ecological, Land Planning, Survey, GIS or closely related field and/or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Professional license (e.g., PE, PS, RLA, AICP, CPG, SR/WA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years applicable experience preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience with project management, including planning, statements of work, budgets and scheduling preferred.
  • Basic understanding or previous experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D; MicroStation a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and able to travel to clients and project sites as needed.
  • Knowledge of local business condition, target markets, and existing relationships.
  • Knowledge of residential, commercial, and municipal land development projects.
  • Experience with traditional and renewable energy projects such as pipeline, wind, natural gas, etc.
  • Experience in proactive and reactive marketing and project management.
  • Experience managing and mentoring employees.
  • Excellent concentration and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skill while dealing with team, clients, technical subject matter, and sensitive client concerns.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, organization, preparation, and execution capabilities to balance projects and meet deadlines.
  • Self motivated, resourceful, action-oriented, flexible, creative, analytical, problem solver.
