JOB SUMMARY
The Commercial Business Analyst I - Rotational
The Commercial Business Analyst I - Rotational role supports the crude commercial organization through analytical support, operational execution, and commercial evaluation with a focus on quality control. Dependent on the role, the Analyst will support day-to-day crude scheduling activities, develop and maintain analytical tools and reporting, support crude quality and value optimization, and/or help evaluate new commercial opportunities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain data analytic tools to support commercial activities, including building dashboards, automating recurring reports, and improving data accessibility and quality.
- Evaluate new commercial opportunities and ad-hoc initiatives by gathering information, performing quantitative analyses, summarizing economics, and preparing materials for decision-making.
- Support crude scheduling execution, tracking movements, and monitoring constraints.
- Support crude quality optimization efforts by analyzing crude assays/quality attributes, monitoring blend performance, and helping identify opportunities to improve netbacks and operational outcomes.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, finance, engineering, business administration, accounting.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to creatively organize data, identify trends, and communicate insights clearly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; ability to learn and use additional analytical tools (e.g., Power BI) and new systems quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and a willingness to learn through hands-on work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
