Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

This description summarizes the requirements of a General Setup and Operate (GSO) level employee performing in metal finish classifications. Responsible for performing production work in the factory environment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

  • Maintain safe work environment (i.e., use of personal protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, etc.)
  • Knowledge and inspection practices to ensure conformance to Quality Department’s specifications.
  • Inform management or leads of any part or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.
  • Able to set-up and complete tasks without direction or help.
  • Start up and stop equipment.
  • Knowledge of the tools, instrumentation, and calibration equipment.
  • Clean production area (sweep, mop, and remove debris).
  • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies.
  • Feed or place items onto equipment for processing.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Mark parts for identification.
  • Place equipment on conveyor belt for further processing.
  • Scrape waste material from machine.
  • Read and interpret gauges.
  • Record data. 
  • Use Epicor ERP to log into and out of jobs.
  • Take instructions from the management/supervisory personnel.
  • Work from routings, manufacturing instruction sheets, blueprints, visual aids, or other instructions to manufacture product at required quality levels.  
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

Basic Math and Communication skills required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs.  Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment.
