Job description

Job Description Summary
The Student Employee will support operations improvement initiatives by collecting and documenting accurate process timing data across a variety of manufacturing and inspection environments. This includes conducting both on-the-floor and video-based observations to capture manual time and automatic cycle time for Shared Resource processes, high-volume machining operations, and QA laboratory inspection activities, including Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operations. The data gathered in this role will help inform productivity analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and support operational decision-making. The Student Employee may assist with broader continuous improvement efforts such as identifying process waste, documenting standard work by operation, and developing standard work combination sheets.
Job Description
Role Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-the-floor and video-based observations of manufacturing and inspection processes to document manual time and automatic cycle time.
  • Collect process timing data across Shared Resource operations, high-volume machining processes, and QA laboratory inspection processes, including CMM operations.
  • Ensure collected data is accurate, complete, and organized for use in productivity analysis and operations improvement efforts.
  • Partner with operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, and support teams to clarify process steps and validate observed information.
  • Assist in identifying process inefficiencies, waste, and improvement opportunities within observed workflows.
  • Support the documentation of standard work by operation to improve process consistency and visibility.
  • Help develop standard work combination sheets and other operational improvement materials as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism and attention to safety while working in production and laboratory environments.
  • Provide timely updates, summaries, and documentation to support ongoing improvement projects.
  • Work onsite and maintain a flexible schedule to support observations across multiple shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and other off-shift hours as needed.
  • This internship will last from Sept - December and does not include relocation
  • This is a part time role approx 20 hours as week

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
