Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

(1) Operate and enter computer data

(2) Process and record billings and purchase orders

(3) Compute and tabulate employee work hours for submission to Auditor

(4) Assist Chief of Police in formulating budget and budgeting requirements for the department

(5) Compose and distribute orders and written communications as directed by the Chief of Police

(6) Assist in coordination of training process; maintain training records

(7) Perform secretarial activities; reviews documents for accuracy and completeness; answers telephones and responds to inquiries.

(8) Assist the Chief of Police, Administrative Captain, and other employees as directed by the Chief of Police

(9) Assist Chief with communications to mayor, city officials, citizens and union representatives

(10) Maintain knowledge of appropriate law enforcement standards for handling of evidence and weapons for evidence room storage, and records retention and disposal

(11) Prepare and maintain information of a confidential or sensitive nature

(12) Prepare confidential information and reports to be used by the Chief and City Administration in Labor negotiations

(13) May be required to view graphic crime scene photos and images

(14) Performs additional duties as directed by the Chief of Police.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(1) Performs other duties as assigned.
