Job Description:

The Technical Maintenance Specialist will form part of the Central Maintenance Team and serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for maintenance operations, technical projects, safety, standards, and regulatory compliance. This role will support maintenance leadership by developing, delivering, and overseeing technical and compliance training programs while providing expert guidance on fleet maintenance practices and emerging technologies. The Technical Maintenance Specialist will ensure inspections and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance fleet reliability, reduce vehicle downtime, and maintain high maintenance standards across the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Abide by the QMS Team Charter and work towards the collective team strategy.

  • Be the SME of your field and give guidance and oversight in the management and delivery of training

  • Be professional and demonstrate integrity, honesty and professionalism in all areas of your work.

  • Abide by and promote the WeDriveU Policies, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Work Instructions.

  • Prepare and submit any written reports to a high standard: for Senior Executive level viewing.

  • Manage, control and govern maintenance training records and reports

  • Support in-house maintenance shops with technical expertise

  • Conduct training for technicians and managers on maintenance procedures or software

  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company maintenance standards

  • Inspect new fleet coming into the company (whether that be on behalf of the company or a client)

  • Conduct maintenance audits/investigations when required

  • Maintain and manage Preventative Maintenance plans within Maximo

  • Support Maximo training, ensuring proper use.

  • Implement automated PM work order generation with Maximo

  • Ensure in-house teams follow company standard operating procedures

  • Work with Maintenance Managers to improve workflows and compliance

  • Monitor and troubleshoot Maximo system issues to support the Maximo and Maintenance teams.

  • Support new system implementations and updates within Maximo

  • Assist with auditing maintenance records for accuracy and compliance

  • Provide guidance on best practices for fleet maintenance and inspections

  • Develop and update training materials for Maximo and maintenance procedures

  • Coordinate with vendors and external partners for compliance and repair needs

  • Own and manage the WDU Technical Information Bulletins and Notices

  • Own and manage the completion of all vehicle campaigns

Qualifications:
  • A College level of education (Desirable)

  • Good general level of education (Essential)

  • Training Delivery Qualifications (Desirable)

  • A technical qualification in maintenance (Essential)

Experience:
  • 3+ years experience of working in the Transport Industry (Desirable)

  • 3+ years experience of working in a technical role (Essential)

  • Management and Leadership experience (Essential)

  • Background in training, coaching, or mentoring maintenance teams.

  • Setting up and managing Preventative Maintenance programs.

  • Experience dealing with Managers, teams and clients (Essential)

Skills:

  • Practical knowledge of Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet).

  • Knowledge of the Department of Transportation & Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

  • Strong organizational skills and outstanding time management (multi-tasking)

  • Excellent problem solving and planning skills

  • Excellent communication, influencing and people skills.

  • Motivated to achieve agreed objectives evidenced through business KPIs.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Undertake any company-provided H&S-related training courses when required.

  • Report immediately any hazard, faulty equipment, or health and safety concerns to your line manager and ensure action is taken to make the hazard safe, i.e. fencing them off, using signs etc.

  • Always be vigilant during site visits and call out/report unsafe practices when seen; without delay.
