Description
Summary:
This is a vacant position seeking for an Assistant Professor at the department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics under the College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences. The position is a full-time (9-month) non tenure-track position at Alabama A&M expected to begin in Fall 2024. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service. Applicants at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor must have interests in outreach and funded projects. A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field is required for this position.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach at least twelve (12) semester hours per semester.
  • The selected candidate is expected to maintain a strong research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and mathematics.
  • Seek funding to strengthen the mathematics program, particularly receiving student scholarship to help promote the number of undergraduate mathematics majors to graduate and successfully placed in graduate school and or professional field.
  • Participate in teaching, research and service activities at the department, college, and university levels that includes successfully completing 80% of teaching, 10% of research & 10% of service annually.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • Applicant must possess a Ph.D. in mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Applicant must have at least 1-3 years of teaching experience at a university level.
  • Applicant must have demonstrated teaching excellence indicated by research presentations and teaching assessments.
  • Applicant must have commitment to research as evidenced by publication in scholarly journals and receiving external funding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Evidence of high-quality research in the fields of mathematics and or related fields confirming with publications in professional journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics and statistics courses. Expected to obtain external funding.
