Job description

Position Title:
Graduate Assistant - Dean's Office, School of Science, Mathematics & Technology
Job Description:
The Graduate Assistant provides clerical support for the office of the Dean in the School of Science, Mathematics & Technology. The GA reports to the Assistant to the Dean and is primarily responsible for office social media, external communication and marketing. The GA will also be called upon to perform a wide variety of office tasks as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and update the school's social media channels, developing posts that highlight student, faculty, and alumni achievements. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications, academic departments, and student organizations to coordinate content as necessary.
  • Partner with the school's Social Media Ambassadors to plan and publish content supporting school events, activities, and promotional initiatives.
  • Support all aspects of the Undergraduate Seminar Series, including scheduling speakers, coordinating with faculty, managing communications, designing promotional materials, and organizing luncheon invitations and attendance.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of marketing and promotional strategies for School events and programs.
  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant to the Dean, including document preparation, organization, filing, copying, and completing on-campus tasks.
  • Research as requested to support the Dean's projects, initiatives, and decision-making.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating School events, meetings, and special programs, including logistics for the Board of Advisors' Fall and Spring meetings.
  • Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independence in managing time-sensitive tasks and confidential matters.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE
  • Microsoft office, including Word, Excel, and Power point as well as Internet and e-mail. Knowledge of using social media platforms e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and applications related to social media. Strong grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading skills. Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.

POSITION AUTHORITY
The Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Assistant to the Dean.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Strong organizational, human relations and communications skills.
  • Ability to manage several projects or assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision, take initiative, and handle emergencies in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Able to maintain a high level of verbal and written confidentiality.

Salary/Hours/Benefits
  • A stipend of $6000 per academic year.
  • 15 hours per week for 12 months (July-June)
  • Tuition Remission Benefits (2 courses in the fall and 2 courses in the spring).

Full Time/Part Time:
Part time
