Job Description
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.
Teach 36 credit hours (in-person day and evening classes as well as synchronous or asynchronous online modalities) during the 2026-2027 academic year (18 hours Fall; 18 hours Spring) and maintain 10 office hours per week. Participate in departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching assignments will include classes on the main campus and/or at our off-site centers and may include classes with dual-enrolled students in Early College programs, the CTE Academy, and/or the Governor's STEM Academy. Perform other assigned duties and departmental activities as required to provide student support and positively impact student success. Position is temporary and ends May 15, 2027.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Minimum of a master's degree in math or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in math. Proficiency and willingness to teach community college level math courses as offered across the college's degree programs. Proficiency in and willingness to incorporate new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom. Prior teaching experience in the community college environment along with teaching of dual-enrolled students highly preferred.
Must demonstrate effective and engaging teaching skills, both in person and online. Must have the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population.
