Job Description
College of Southern Nevada is seeking a dedicated and dynamic part-time instructor to teach a 20-day period, non-credit math preparation course for two hours per day designed for students enrolling in Math 124E or Math 126E. The instructor will guide students through fundamental algebraic concepts and enhance their mathematical vocabulary, ensuring they are prepared for more rigorous coursework.
Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and conceptual understanding.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including problem-solving, guided practice, and real-world applications.
  • Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to build confidence and competence.
  • Support students in strengthening their skills in integers, fractions, decimals, graphing, linear equations, inequalities, and exponents.
  • Collaborate with relevant faculty and academic advisors to ensure the curriculum aligns with Math 124E and Math 126E expectations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and provide course-related reports as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching experience in mathematics at the high school or collegiate level (preferred).
  • Strong ability to communicate complex mathematical concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Familiarity with instructional strategies that support diverse learners, including those with different proficiency levels.
  • Passion for student success and academic development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in college preparatory programs or remedial math instruction.
