Job Title: Secondary Instructional Coach (Literacy and Math)
Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic instructional coach to support our secondary staff in enhancing literacy and math instruction. The instructional coach will work collaboratively with teachers, providing professional development, resources, and ongoing support to improve instructional practices and student outcomes in literacy and math.
Responsibilities:
  1. Instructional Support:
    • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies in literacy and math.
    • Model effective teaching techniques and strategies through demonstration lessons.
  2. Professional Development:
    • Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on best practices in literacy and math instruction.
    • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build teachers' capacity in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies.
    • Stay abreast of current research and trends in literacy and math education to inform professional development offerings.
  3. Curriculum and Resource Development:
    • Assist in the selection and adaptation of curriculum materials and resources to support literacy and math instruction.
    • Develop and curate instructional materials, including lesson plans, activities, and assessments, aligned with curriculum standards and student needs.
  4. Data Analysis and Goal Setting:
    • Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and identify areas for improvement in literacy and math achievement.
    • Assist in setting goals for student learning and monitor progress toward goals through data analysis and formative assessments.
    • Use data to inform instructional decision-making and adjust support strategies as needed.
  5. Coaching and Mentoring:
    • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to teachers, offering support in implementing new instructional strategies and techniques.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and professional growth by facilitating peer coaching opportunities among staff members.
    • Work in collaboration with the district coaching team, building principal, and the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to support the implementation of curriculum and implement effective instructional practices to achieve the district's vision for student success.
    • Act as a thought partner and resource for teachers, offering guidance and support in addressing instructional challenges.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching license or certification
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in secondary (6-12) literacy
  • Experience in instructional coaching, Cognitive Coaching training, or teacher leadership role preferred
  • Proven track record of improving student achievement through effective instructional practices
  • Experience in instructional coaching and leadership role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of literacy and math curriculum standards and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with teachers and collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in data analysis and using data to inform instructional decision-making

Other qualifications are also considered in the final selection of a person to fill this position. The search for a highly qualified applicant for this position is not restricted to this district.
