Job description

Title: CNC Lathe Set-Up/Operator

Shift: 2nd shift hours are M-Thu 3:30-1am and Fridays 3:30-7:30pm

Salary: $24.00 – $35.00 per hour

CNC Lathe Set-Up/Operator Role

This role is responsible for the setup, operation, and program editing of CNC Lathes and turning centers, specifically utilizing Mazak machines operating on Mazatrol programming. The ideal candidate will produce parts to precise specifications, ensuring efficient production flow and high-quality output within the machining work cell.

CNC Lathe Set-Up/Operator Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Lathes / Turning Centers under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Program, edit, and set up Mazak machines utilizing Mazatrol Programming.
  • Select required cutting tools, tool grades, and proper speeds and feeds from programming documents and Mazatrol controls.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical schematics to complete production requirements.
  • Inspect all manufactured parts and perform quality-related statistical analysis.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance including checking oil and coolant levels.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and utilize required protective equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and team peers.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area according to quality standards.

CNC Lathe Set-Up/Operator Reporting Relationships

The candidate reports to the Production Supervisor and will not have any direct reports.

About You

  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrate solid, proven experience in CNC machining with a specific focus on lathe work.
  • Must possess strong, demonstrable setup experience specifically on Mazak machines using Mazatrol.
  • Read and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
  • Use basic mathematics including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Supply personal hand tools and toolboxes.
  • Lift or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Stand for long periods and navigate a manufacturing floor environment.
