Job description

Summary The BG Falcon Media Content Editor works with the News Content Director and BG News Editor In Chief (EIC) to manage editorial content appearing on the student-led BGFalconMedia.com and in The BG News. This position assists in all content and operational decisions. Career Readiness Competencies Seek feedback from supervisors and apply it to improve performance

Maintain a positive, growth-oriented mindset when facing challenges. Ask questions to gain clarity on job expectations and responsibilities. Essential Functions Provide editing support for all news content appearing on BGFalconMedia.com and in the BG News Attend and contribute story ideas to weekly news meetings, communicating deadlines and responsibilities to reporters Attend print nights from start to final send-off for printing and assist in the editing process of all BG News content Takes the lead on briefs and Falcon Fours for the BG News - from assigning (or creating) to working with designers to ensuring page is completed by deadline Contributes content on a weekly basis Assists BG News EIC in adhering to production schedule developed by the Falcon Media Manager, working with the Creative Director and design team to ensure each page and the overall publication meets deadlines Assists News Content Director in posting content to the website Attend weekly executive meetings and weekly news meetings Minimum Qualifications Preferred majors: Journalism, public relations Preferred: Experience producing content for BG Falcon Media Demonstrated good news judgment and knowledge of the University and community Demonstrated competency in writing, reporting and editing Minimum GPA: 2.25 Additional Information This role requires approximately 8 to 10 hours per week during each semester with flexibility to align with academic schedule

Stipend: $1,900 annually, intended to support educational learning outcomes. This internship is eligible for academic credit with approval from student's program/college. Bowling Green State University is an equal opportunity employer.
