Job description

Elementary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Teacher - Long-term Substitute
Franklin Elementary & Washington Elementary Schools
 


Mankato Area Public Schools is seeking a long-term substitue STEM Teacher beginning August 31 and ending between October 9 and Nov 20, 2026. 


Summary of Duties:

Design and implement high-quality STEM lessons for K5 students in a rotating specialist model.

  • Provide instruction in areas including, but not limited to:
    • Coding
    • Robotics
    • Engineering Design Processes
    • Problem- and Project-Based Learning
  • Utilize and deliver Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch curriculum with fidelity; become PLTW certified (training provided if needed)
  • Foster student engagement through creative and innovative teaching practices.
  • Promote 21st-century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
  • Monitor and report student progress each semester.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, instructional technology teams, and fellow specialists to ensure program quality and alignment
  • Support and maintain STEM classroom materials and equipment.


Qualifications Required:

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education (K6)
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in an instructional setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of or experience with integrating technology in the classroom

Salary Range:
$$267.15 - $488.40 (Daily rate based on the MTA salary schedule)
