Chicago Tech Academy High School (ChiTech) is a public charter high school in Chicago dedicated to preparing students for success in college, careers, and the technology-driven economy. Position: High School Math Teacher | 10-Month Salaried

Reports To: Head of School

Objective: Provide an engaging, rigorous and innovative academic learning experience for students by developing lessons for students through the combined use of traditional best practices, digital resources, and project-based learning. Ultimately, the goal of the ChiTech Mathematics Teacher is to connect new knowledge and skills to real-world applications.


Teaching & Learning Responsibilities (Team Role: Driver)

  • Demonstrate passion for and commitment to your personal educational mission, and the mission and success of ChiTech.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with all students throughout the ChiTech Community.
  • Develop and execute lesson plans for high school level math classes.
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data as directed by data pertaining to student growth and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, delivery and project-based learning design.
  • Creatively use available instructional resources to engage students.
  • Willingly to receive coaching through a dedicated feedback cycle.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Employ techniques, interventions, modifications and accommodations to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.
  • Possess a solution focused mindset.


Classroom Management (Team Role: Driver)


  • Implement all school-wide restorative practices as a classroom management technique (Building and Repairing Relationships, Community Circles, etc.).
  • Assure the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures and maintain the learning environment (safe, orderly and clean).

Professional Responsibilities (Team Role: Active Participant)

  • Attend and actively participate in morning team meetings.
  • Participate in weekly professional growth activities and designated in-service training programs.
  • Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility and ethical behavior.
  • Assume responsibilities outside the classroom.
  • Demonstrate the ability to react well under pressure, handle, and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of, and ability to, perform duties in full compliance with all organization, Board of Education, State and Federal laws, methods, requirements, policies, procedures, and activities pertinent to the duties of this position.
  • Demonstrate a sensitivity to and respect for a diverse student and teacher population (ethnicity, gender, culture, “ability,” etc.).
  • Demonstrate effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with students, educational staff, parents and staff.
  • Respect the confidentiality of information regarding students and be discreet in dealing with parents and educational personnel.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Operations/Other (Team Role: Supporter)


  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as emergency drills, assemblies, cafeteria, restrooms, field trips, hallways, and dismissal.
  • Serve as Advisor to a 4-year cohort of students.
  • Attend Open Houses, School Wide Exhibition & other school-based events.

Requirements and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Math education or related field
  • Valid state substitute or teaching certification
  • Proven experience as a leader of learning or a youth service provider
  • Knowledge of Math curriculum and teaching methods
  • Able to engage and motivate students
  • Outstanding communication and classroom management skills
  • Proficient computer skills
