Job Summary:The District Math Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and support for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the District's Mathematics program for grades K-8. This role ensures alignment with Illinois Learning Standards and district goals while promoting high-quality mathematics instruction and student achievement.
The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework by integrating mathematics instruction, assessment, and intervention practices to improve outcomes for all students.
Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district mathematics curriculum
- Ensure alignment with Illinois Learning Standards and district priorities
- Analyze student achievement data to monitor progress and guide instruction
- Support development and implementation of district-wide common assessments (K-8)
- Assist in the selection and implementation of mathematics instructional materials and resources
- Provide instructional coaching to improve mathematics instructional practices
- Collaborate with principals to monitor curriculum implementation and instructional quality
- Support vertical and horizontal articulation across grade levels
- Plan and deliver professional development aligned to mathematics best practices
- Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and mathematics-focused teams
- Serve as a model of effective mathematics instruction, including demonstration lessons
- Other duties as assigned
MTSS-Specific Responsibilities:- Support the implementation of the MTSS framework within mathematics across all tiers (Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3)
- Collaborate with building teams to identify students in need of math interventions using universal screening and progress monitoring data
- Assist in the development and implementation of evidence-based mathematics interventions
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and support data-based decision-making
- Provide training and coaching to staff on MTSS processes, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring tools
- Collaborate with Student Services, interventionists, and instructional staff to ensure alignment of supports
Minimum Education, Certification, and Licensure:- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Master's Degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field required
- Mathematics endorsement preferred
- Administrative endorsement (Type 75) required
- 3-5 years teaching experience required
Professional Experience and Skills:- Experience in mathematics instruction and curriculum development
- Strong knowledge of mathematics standards and instructional practices
- Experience analyzing student data to inform instruction and interventions
- Experience supporting or implementing MTSS frameworks
- Experience providing professional development and coaching
- Knowledge of curriculum development and evaluation processes
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
