Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced SANY Math Curriculum Coordinator for grades K-12 to enhance and optimize our established math programs across all SANY schools. This essential role involves refining our existing math curriculum to ensure it continues to meet and exceed district and state standards, promoting an environment where both students and teachers strive for excellence in math education.
Job Goals: The SANY Math Curriculum Coordinator will continue to develop, articulate, implement, and evaluate our comprehensive math program that is research-based and meets the diverse needs of our students across the entire district.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum and Instruction: Serve as the SANY leader on curriculum and instruction in math across all K-12 grade levels. Maintain and enhance the alignment of the math curriculum with state standards. Manage, coordinate, and monitor instructional programs while ensuring timely updates to the curriculum.
  • Assessment and Intervention: Assess the performance and impact of existing math programs on student achievement. Lead data meetings to scrutinize math performance data and develop and implement strategic intervention programs as required.
  • Staff Development: Lead SANY-wide staff development initiatives focused on math education. Design and conduct professional development sessions, workshops, and training for math educators throughout the district.
  • Leadership and Coordination: Collaborate effectively with building leadership and other stakeholders to implement evidence-based practices and data-driven math interventions. Ensure seamless coordination with other curriculum coordinators for a cohesive approach across various subject areas.

  • Demonstrate exemplary instructional leadership by modeling effective math teaching strategies and actively participating in curriculum refinement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and research in math education through ongoing professional development.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of SANY-wide school improvement plans with a focus on math objectives.
  • Uphold professional standards at all times, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the SANY Employee Handbook.
  • Respond promptly to all staff communications within 72 hours and address administrative concerns efficiently.

Requirements
Education & Certification
  • Master's degree in Mathematics Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field.
  • Preferred: Valid New York State certification in Mathematics (Elementary or Secondary Math).

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in K-12 mathematics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in math curriculum design, standards alignment, and instructional coaching.
  • Experience designing and leading professional development for math educators.
  • Proven record of using student math data to improve instruction and achievement.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of NYS Mathematics Learning Standards and best practices in math pedagogy.
  • Expertise in conceptual, procedural, and problem-solving instruction across all grade levels.
  • Familiarity with STEM integration and the use of technology in mathematics instruction.
  • Ability to support teachers in implementing interventions and enrichment for diverse learners.

Additional Expectations
  • Commitment to cultivating mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and real-world application skills among students.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with teachers, administrators, and other curriculum coordinators.
  • Flexibility and organizational ability to coordinate math programming across multiple SANY schools.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to schools within a 2-hour range, including operation of district vehicles.
