Job description

Arrowhead Talent Solutions is assisting a mid-sized aerospace manufacturer in Fullterton CA with their search for a Materials Planning Manager.
Position Overview:
As a Material Planning Manager, you'll be part of our Industrial team working as on-site employee in Fullerton, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead materials planning, scheduling, and inventory control activities supporting aerospace manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure availability of stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium bar stock and forgings to support machining and production schedules.
  • Manage and optimize MRP parameters, including safety stock, lead times, lot sizing, and reorder points.
  • Collaborate with procurement, quality, engineering, and production teams to align materials planning with operational priorities.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance production continuity with inventory cost and working capital objectives.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, customer orders, and production schedules to ensure timely material availability.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of aerospace-certified materials meeting AMS, ASTM, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure full traceability and documentation of raw materials in compliance with AS9100, FAA, and customer traceability requirements.
  • Support engineering changes by assessing material impact, availability, and transition planning.
  • Lead cycle counting, inventory accuracy initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Develop and present KPIs and performance metrics including inventory turns, on-time delivery, and material availability.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities:
    • Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality management standards, customer flow-down requirements, and applicable federal regulations including ITAR and DFARS. Maintain strict material traceability from receipt through finished goods shipment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of materials planning experience in aerospace or precision metal manufacturing.
  • Strong experience planning raw materials including stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium.
  • Experience working with bar stock, forgings, and machined aerospace components.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience working under AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
  • Experience with aerospace OEM and defense contractor requirements.
  • Experience with inventory optimization and lean manufacturing.
  • Experience managing planning teams.
  • Experience in California aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
