Job description

Position: Materials Expeditor
Supervisor: Production Supervisor
Classification: Hourly, non-exempt
Shift:1st Shift M-F 7AM-330PM
The Material Expeditor is responsible for overseeing and managing material flow within the machine shop, fabrication shop, and quality department. This position plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing and supply chain operations, ensuring production processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Roles amp; Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and streamline the movement of materials and work orders across departments to ensure timely production completion.
  • Work with cell leaders to monitor work centers utilizing work center dispatch reports, cell tact time analysis, and related material to ensure on-time start dates and completions.
  • Work closely with production planners, supervisors, and other stakeholders to coordinate and schedule manufacturing activities.
  • Provide updates on production status, delays, and potential issues to management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor production schedules, making adjustments as needed to accommodate shifting priorities and urgent requests.
  • Identify bottlenecks or process inefficiencies and recommend solutions to enhance productivity and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records, including work orders, MRP records, production reports, and work cell inventory.
  • Continuously assess and improve production workflows to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Conduct routine inspections of production areas to ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards.
  • All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills including spreadsheet software required.
  • Knowledge of a specialized field such as production control and production planning
  • May be required to stand for sustained periods of time.
  • May be required to stoop and bend frequently.
  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills needed.
  • Background working with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts and ability to apply them effectively.
  • Ability to build trust, maintain professionalism, and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
