This is a unique role, which will span Materials and Process Engineering andfocus onmaterials and processes forBlue's advanced engine program. This role will directly impact design and manufacturability of engine hardware, ultimately contributing to lowering the cost of access to space.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and qualifymaterials andprocesses for engine applications

  • Work with design, manufacturing and process engineers to design, qualify and implementspecialized materials

  • Lead material selectionand trades for new designs

  • Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing, and develop process control documentation and quality assurance measures

  • Develop materials test plans forselected materials and assemblies

  • Own process and repair qualification across the development and production lifecycle

  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities forcost and lead time reductions

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degreeor higherinMaterialsScience andEngineering,ElectricalEngineering,Chemical Engineeringor related field

  • 7+years'of directexperienceinmaterials and processes

  • Experienceproviding M&P guidanceacrossproductlifecycle

  • Working knowledge ofmetallic materials includingsteels,stainless steels,Ci-based alloysand copper

  • Experience with joiningand joint design forwelding,brazing,and fastening

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline.

  • In-depth understanding of materials/ process relationshipsacross a broad range of alloys and materials

  • Familiarity with a range of manufacturing processes (additive, casting, forging) and their impact onmaterial properties

  • Experience with maintenance, repair, and overhaulon complex hardware or systems

  • Experience setting up and qualifying new manufacturing equipment and/or processes

  • Understanding of, and ability to work too, relevant quality and design codes and standards.
