A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview) As a Materials Engineer in our innovation organization, your day will center on hands-on materials research that helps advance reliable, sustainable energy technologies. You will characterize and test materials used in demanding energy applications, evaluate microstructures and material performance, support and execute R&D projects, and translate technical findings into clear recommendations for engineering teams and internal customers. Working in a collaborative lab environment, you will combine practical testing, analytical problem-solving, and curiosity for materials science to help improve existing solutions and enable the next generation of energy technologies. How You'll Make an Impact (responsibilities) • Drive hands-on materials characterization and testing to support energy technology development. • Evaluate material properties, microstructures, durability, using laboratory techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, material testing, and related analytical methods. • Translate complex test results into clear engineering insights, recommendations, and technical reports that guide material selection, process improvements, and customer decisions. • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, R&D, and service teams to solve materials-related challenges and accelerate robust, reliable solutions for energy applications. • Advance lab capability, quality, and efficiency by improving test methods, maintaining strong documentation, and supporting safe, compliant laboratory operations. • Stay connected to emerging materials, characterization methods, and industry trends to bring fresh ideas and innovation into current and future energy technology programs.
