How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) 

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at one site. As the material manager on this campus, you will be responsible to oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring efficient inventory management and supplier relationships to support production for the Cooling portion of the organization. This position is tactical in nature and involves tasks like inventory management, procurement, supplier relations and logistics coordination. Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment.  

Reporting into the Cooling Plant Manager, this position is also responsible for training operations staff, signing purchase orders and tracking the flow of inventory through the company's supply chain 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) 

While each day brings new opportunities to SPX, your core responsibilities will be:  

  1. Inventory management: 

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure that materials are available when needed while avoiding excess stock that could lead to waste. 

  • Approximate value of inventory under management will be $30M. 

  1. Procurement:    

  • Procure materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for production 

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to acquire materials at optimal costs while maintaining quality standards.  

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms. 

  • Plan inventory levels and manage stock levels to ensure materials are available when needed 

  • Approximate value of annual purchase is $100M. 

  1. Supplier relations: 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring timely delivery of materials. 

  1. Logistics Coordination:  

  • Oversee the logistics of incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring alignment with production schedules and operational needs. 

  • Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. 

  • This position supports both onsite businesses by managing the shipping and receiving staff. 

  1. Compliance:  

  • Ensure all material management activities comply with industry standards and regulations, including environmental laws. 

  1. Team management:  

  • Lead and develop the materials management team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.  

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

  • Proficiency in inventory management systems  

  • The use of ERP systems (preferably Epicor) to help drive performance. 

  • Experience in greenfield or brownfield start upsstart-ups.  

Education & Certifications  

  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred. 

Travel & Working Environment 

  • Travel will be required at times
