Material Handler

Ripon - Ripon, WI 54971

Overview

Position Type Hourly - Production Job Shift 1st Shift- Day

Description

Job Summary:

As a Material Handler, you are responsible for moving materials/scrap around the facility, as well as updating all necessary logs and putting material in the proper holding/staging area. This position works alternate hours every other week:

Week 1: 5am to 2pm Monday thru Thursday and 7am to 11:30am on Fridays

Week 2: 6am to 3pm Monday thru Thursday and 11am to 3pm on Fridays.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates various powered industrial trucks.
  • Fills out appropriate paperwork.
  • Moves materials around the facility.
  • Updates logs.
  • Puts materials in the proper holding/staging area.
  • Coordinates scrap/trash removal and maintenance at various work centers.
  • Set up and operate the baler machine.
  • Gather and segregates varied recyclable materials.
  • Manages daily operation within the Walsworth Recycling Center including the operation of various equipment.
  • Provides scrap and waste receptacles throughout the facility.
  • Clears lines of outgoing materials as directed by the shift lead.
  • Must be able to read, follow and perform work instructions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude helpful.
  • Previous experience working with Power Industrial equipment.
  • Must have good organizational skills.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.
  • May require specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Operates various lift trucks and materials management equipment, placing materials in or out of racking or other confined spaces and near pedestrians and/or near operating machinery.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Previous experience preferred.
