General Summary of Position
Responsible for the receipt control/inventory and issue/disbursement of supplies and materials.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receives inspects unpacks and verifies quantities received against packing slip or purchase order for items/supplies delivered. Accepts/rejects delivery. Shelves and stores received items/supplies.
  • Processes inventory documentation concerned with the storage and distribution of items/supplies including receiving reports general stock requisitions return to stock credits etc. which may involve entering items received into a computerized inventory system. May check on back orders using a computer/terminal.
  • Counts manually or with a portable hand held computer items on exchange carts or supply shelves. May upload/download inventory information to/from the personal computer into/out of the portable hand held computer. Checks for and pulls opened damaged overstock or expired inventory and replaces damaged or dirty boxes/containers labels etc. Replaces damaged or dirty boxes/containers labels etc. and straightens/cleans exchange cart(s). Disposes of pulled items in accordance with standing departmental policy. Participates in periodic physical inventories.
  • Pulls from bulk stock items necessary to restock. Restocks shelves ensuring that the items are correctly labeled/numbered protecting the integrity of sterile supplies. Rotates stock in accordance with established protocol within the department.
  • May make stock record entries including consumption data and quantity of items in storage to assist in establishing stock/par levels. Informs supervisor of items not in demand.
  • Checks off and files completed requisitions.
  • May issue/distribute/deliver items/supplies to or within WHC.
  • May assist in or accomplish the collection packaging shipment and complete documentation of goods/items returned to vendor(s).
  • May inventory and restock supplies in ancillary locations with items/supplies from inventory (e.g.: shoe covers and caps/hats for the OR or SPD).
  • May catalog items and enter them into inventory or check on back orders by using a computer terminal or personal computer.
  • Breaks down and discards boxes; maintains the work area(s) in a clean orderly and safe condition.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
    Experience
    • 0 to 6 months experience required
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Requires the ability to read write and perform basic addition and subtraction.
    • Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.
